CAREERS Events

Thornton regularly join with the boys at St Columba?s College, St Albans for careers activities, and this week our Sixth Form students have enjoyed two events.

A group of Year 13s joined a virtual UCAS Interview workshop with the boys, where they were given mock interviews in Law, Medicine and Veterinary Science by a selection of university admissions tutors. This was excellent preparation for our students as they submit their applications for university entry, and they were able to pick up valuable tips and techniques.

Thornton also hosted an inaugural Virtual Debate with Year 12 students from both schools, discussing the motion: This house believes that all statues associated with racism should be removed.

This was chaired brilliantly by two Year 13s, Asha and Jess, who managed to keep to very precise timings. Arguments and counter arguments were prepared by small groups from both schools in breakout rooms on Zoom, before coming together for the main discussion. The debate was deemed a great success by both schools, and we look forward to making them regular events.
