Fees

Thornton College Fees from January 2025 to August 2025

Lunch charges are not currently subject to VAT; however, there is some contradiction between the Treasury guidance and HMRC’s interpretation of that guidance. We do not currently envisage having a VAT liability for lunch charges but if this is overruled by HMRC, VAT will need to be added to the termly lunch charge and we will of course advise you of this as soon as possible.

If you have any queries relating to your bill, please contact our Finance team below.  You will be notified of any fee increase one term in advance.

Wrap around care & occasional (flexi) boarding

We have a flexible Wrap-Around Care and Occasional Boarding system to suit busy working parents. Many families use it on a regular basis; others use it occasionally. There is a charge for this service which goes towards the cost of staffing and catering.

Day students, from Year 3 upwards, can join us as early as 7.45am for breakfast and stay as late as 7.00pm after supper. Reception to Year 2 students can join our After School Club until 6.00pm.

Our standard After School Care runs from the end of the school day until 6.00pm. Snacks and refreshments are provided at the end of the school day. You may collect your child at any time within these hours. You will be asked to book this towards the end of the previous term and the charge is made termly, in advance. Any additional sessions, outside of your regular booking, will be charged in arrears at a cost of £11.50 per day. It is more cost effective to book into a regular slot as follows:

RECEPTION TO YEAR 11
1 DAY PER WEEK £100 per term
2 DAYS PER WEEK £200 per term
3 DAYS PER WEEK £300 per term
4 DAYS PER WEEK £400 per term
5 DAYS PER WEEK £500 per term

All students are charged for day tuition fees and compulsory school lunch.  Fees exclude any school extras such as bus transport, wrap around care and exam fees, etc.

Boarding fees are charged in addition to the Day Student tuition fee charges.

Boarding fees include term time accommodation, meals in boarding and tuition, textbooks and laundry except for the occasional dry cleaning. There will be an additional charge in relation to any weekend activities.
