Mr Gerry Loftus

is the retired Head of the English Department and Senior Lecturer at Buckingham University. He is a very experienced teacher of many aspects of English language and linguistics, having worked for thirty years at the University and previously in Sweden and Germany. He has been active in the development of new and innovative degree programmes, especially in the field of teacher training. He is interested in the application of linguistic and educational research in the context of delivering the University’s own degrees programmes. He has developed the University’s collaborations with universities and academies overseas, in Japan, Korea, Libya, Uganda and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and so travels regularly abroad. Gerry has been involved in university and civic governance, as a member of the University Council and as Mayor of Buckingham. He holds the honorary title of Freeman of the Town of Buckingham. Gerry is Chair of the Governors’ Curriculum and Personnel Committee.
