Short-Stay Immersion Programme
The Short-Stay Immersion Programme at Thornton is designed to give international students the opportunity to experience an all-girls British boarding education from as little as 2 weeks to one year of study. We offer a range of short-stay and enrichment opportunities where girls can join us as a day pupil, weekly boarder or full boarder.
What students can expect – students will:
- Participate in all aspects of school life
- Follow the normal timetable of lessons in their year group
- Be assigned a buddy in their class to help them settle in
- Enhance their level of English
- Form friendships to last a lifetime
- Receive excellent pastoral care both in the day school and from a dedicated boarding team
- Enjoy a rural location set in 25 acres of beautiful parkland
- Benefit from the proximity to London, Oxford and Cambridge
Day Place
Girls are welcome to join us as a day pupil for a short-stay immersion where they will have all lessons taught in English, be fully integrated in Thornton life and with class sizes of no more than 20, we guarantee individual attention for each student to get the best out of their time with us.
Boarding
From Year 3 (age 7) – Year 13 (age 18), girls can join us for a variety of short-stay arrangements in our boarding house. All girls will attend lessons, all of which are taught in English, have the option of ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages) during their stay, and enjoy the opportunities provided by a British boarding school education.
For many girls, the Short-Stay Immersion Programme is simply a stepping stone to moving to full-time study with us.
We welcome girls from all over the world, including, but not limited to Spain, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, China, Canada, France, Nigeria and Germany.
2026 Short Stay per Week (excluding JM students)
Short Term Stay Rate per week applies to the following students:
- up to 4 weeks stay
- more than Half Term up to 10 weeks stay
If students wish to stay more than 4 weeks up to Half Term, half of the full term fees apply (not the short stay per week rate).
If students wish to stay more than 10 weeks up to Full Term, then full term fees apply (not the short stay per week rate).
