Father Mervyn has been a professed member of the Salesians of Don Bosco, a Roman Catholic Religious Order, since 1965 and a Roman Catholic Priest since 1975. He has considerable experience of religious life, education and charity management and administration. He was a secondary school head-teacher for over seventeen years and for the past eighteen years has been responsible for managing the business of the registered charity Salesians of Don Bosco UK as Provincial Bursar, a post from which he has recently retired . He has also been a Salesian trustee for eighteen years. He first met the Religious of Jesus and Mary in 1972.
