Our Year 10s hosted students from Queen’s College London for a lively Debate and lunch this week. Ably chaired by Ava and Celia in Year 11, both schools had prepared arguments both for and against the motion: “This house believes that modern technology (or social media) is bad for people.”
Students were mixed up, and given time to work alongside others who they hadn’t met before, which was excellent experience for them. Ava and Celia introduced elements to the Debate, such as when speaking, the girls had to stand to make their points, in true Mock the Week style! Queen’s College is a leading London Day School, and we were extremely proud of the confidence, reasoned arguments and self assurance that Thornton students exhibited.
