The Year 12s hosted two speakers from Network Rail to share their different journeys into the company. Theo is currently on the prestigious Degree Apprenticeship Scheme and Mo is undertaking his Year in Industry from the University of Nottingham. Both programmes offer the opportunity to experience many different departments and job roles and we heard about the organisation’s commitment to well-being and flexible working.
This year 1,500 applied for the Degree Apprenticeship scheme and 40 were interviewed for five positions. Mo shared that he had applied to 120 companies for his placement. We were given brilliant advice about how to prepare for Apprenticeship, Year in Industry and Graduate applications, which included thoroughly researching companies, becoming familiar with their core values and how your attributes align with theirs and following them on social media to build an awareness of any campaigns and current news.
