Congratulations to our Esports gaming team on their victory over Newcastle High School yesterday with an impressive 3-0 scoreline in the Independent School Association (ISA) Esports Competition.
Hannah and Kayla were players of the match – chosen automatically by the game, based on their performance against the opposition.
It was the girls’ second fixture having lost on the equivalent of a penalty shoot-out against Leicester High School for Girls last Wednesday – their first ever game.
Team manager and coach Mr Lovell commented: “The difference was the experience the girls gained from last week’s match. They were ferocious in the gaming arena!”
Next week the team are playing against Bolton Girls School, with the winners going through to a play-off against Bedford Girls’ School for a place in the national final.
The benefits of Esports include developing cognitive skills and creativity, boosting mental health, encouraging teamwork and social skills, and building transferable skills for the future.
Team members are pictured in deep-concentration mode with Mr Lovell encouraging from the sidelines.
