It was standing room only for a brilliant careers talk today, delivered by Georgia Latham, who works at the Football Association as England Marketing Manager for the national teams. Georgia loved her time at Thornton and talked about the friends she made and the attributes she developed here, particularly residence and persistence. She shared that she was not an academic high flyer, had no idea what she wanted to do and studied Criminology at university. She realised this wasn’t a career path she wanted, and having always loved football, contacted twenty football clubs, volunteering to do their social media on match days. Most didn’t respond, but Bath City did, and Georgia spent every Saturday at their matches, creating content for their social channels. Following graduation, she saw a job at Swansea City as a Digital Executive. She secured the role and learnt that the Club had kept her offer to volunteer on file, recognised her name and her commitment to football and cited this as one of the reasons she was appointed for a very competitive job. Georgia spoke about imposter syndrome and feeling uncomfortable when somewhere new, but how she has really built the confidence to be ambitious and always to be looking for the next challenge. She went on to work at Spurs, where she had to organise a victory parade after they won the UEFA Europa League, with only 48 hours notice, for 250,000 people! As England Marketing Manager, one of Georgia’s responsibilities is to market a new official England App with exclusive content and behind the scenes footage. With the men’s World Cup this year, the women’s World Cup next year and a home Euros in 2028, Georgia has so much to look forward to. We are super proud of all Georgia has achieved, at the relatively young age of 25 and excited to see where she will go next!
