Six of Thornton’s Equestrian Squad took part in the NSEA County Championships at Hickstead from 28th – 30th May. Imogen Breakell, Sasha Kurz, Clemmie Orledge, Charlotte Hopkins, Freya Cook and Zara Rawdings represented Thornton in these prestigious national championships, which involved schools from across England and Wales.
The girls competed in dressage, eventer challenge and show-jumping classes at various levels and achieved some outstanding results. Our team for the 90cm intermediate show-jumping, comprising of Imogen, Freya and Sasha, finished in 3rd place after a thrilling final jump off. Freya was then placed 4th individually in the 100cm open show-jumping. Our team of Charlotte, Clemmie and Sasha were also placed 7th in the dressage competition.
With many hundreds of riders competing, all of whom qualified at regional events, this is a very impressive performance from the Thornton squad.
