Security Officer (zero hours contract)

We are looking to recruit an experienced Security Officer to work as part of a three Officer team, one full time and two job share, covering 113 hrs per week.  The shift pattern is currently two days, seven nights.

This role would suit someone with excellent interpersonal skills who would enjoy a front of house position at this successful school on the outskirts of Milton Keynes.  The role involves monitoring access to and egress from site, accepting deliveries and ensuring the security of the school is effective.  Reporting to the Head of Estates and Operations.

This role is to cover annual leave and any other absences and will be a zero hours contract.

Salary: £11.44 gross per hour

Teaching Assistant/ Learning Support Assistant (1pm-6pm)

Thornton College is seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant/ Learning Support Assistant. Monday – Friday, 12:00pm – 6:00pm. Term time only. The role will include Lunchtime and After School Supervision (EYFS, Prep or Senior). A Level 3 qualification is desirable but not essential. Graduate Sports Coach/Assistant

For September 2024 Thornton College are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced sports graduate to join the Physical Education department to enhance further our provision.   Candidates should be willing to coach a variety of sports and embrace fully the co-curricular life of the school. A lifeguard qualification or willingness and ability to qualify as a lifeguard is essential and the ability to drive the school minibus is desirable.

Librarian

For September 2024 we are looking to recruit an organised and knowledgeable Librarian to work in and manage the School Library. She/he will select, acquire, purchase, organise, advise on and promote learning resources in all formats, which support the curriculum and learning and teaching in consultation with school management and other teaching staff. The role includes Prep. and Senior Library lessons as well as supervision and management responsibility for the Educational Visits and Co-curricular programmes at Thornton College.

Graduate Boarding Assistant

Thornton College is looking to appoint a Graduate Boarding Assistant from April 2024 or September 2024, to support boarding students in our Boarding House.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a variety of tasks in both boarding and in school. Areas of interest and for professional development will be confirmed at Interview.

Single accommodation, with bathroom facilities, will be provided within the Boarding House. Accommodation and food are included during term time.  The post requires a full commitment during term time when the boarders are at school but there are substantial holidays at Christmas and Easter as well as a half term week in each term, with a break of two weeks in the Michaelmas Term. Duties will include assisting with wake ups and bedtimes, assisting with daytime break and lunch duties, covering in day school, organising and running activities and attending outings. The Boarding Team have a termly rota which allows for daily and weekly time off.

Salary: Gross Annual Salary – Actual £20,362 gross per annum (FTE £25,211). Accommodation, food and utilities included during term time (please do let us know on your application form if you require accommodation full-time). A clean driving licence and three years’ driving experience is desirable (but not essential). No pets allowed.

Thornton College wish to appoint a Housemistress to start as soon as possible thereafter. This post represents a challenging yet highly rewarding opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the personal development of our girls and to work as part of a supportive team.

Thornton College is part of the wider Jesus and Mary Trust, educating young people in 29 countries across the world. There is an ambitious school development plan in place and our most recent ISI inspection report judged the school to be ‘Excellent’ in all areas. The successful candidate can be sure of working with a team of extremely dedicated staff in a very motivating, forward-thinking school environment.

Candidates will almost certainly have relevant experience of serving as a Residential Assistant and will have a deep understanding of, and commitment to, pastoral care. Candidates will hold BSA qualifications or be willing to undertake them during their first two years in post.

Single accommodation, with private bathroom, will be provided within the Boarding House. Accommodation for the period and food during term time are provided free of charge, should you require accommodation outside of term time, please make this clear in your application. The post requires a full commitment during term time when the boarders are at school but there are substantial holidays at Christmas and Easter as well as a half term week in each term, with a break of two weeks in the Michaelmas Term. There is also some time off every working day. Duties will include assisting with wake ups and bedtimes, assisting with daytime break and lunch duties, organising and running activities and attending outings.

Salary: FTE £32,626.00 (Actual salary : £26,352.00)

The role will be term-time which equates to 37 working weeks per academic year.
