Age-Specific Holiday HQ Experiences
At Thornton College, Holiday HQ runs a split programme, with activities tailored to different age groups so every child gets the most from their holiday experience.
🏃♀️ HHQ Under 8s (Ages 4–7)
For younger children, confidence grows through structure, encouragement and imagination.
Our Under 8s programme blends movement, creativity and discovery throughout the day — supportive, engaging and designed so children can explore without feeling overwhelmed.
Across the holidays, children take part in experiences such as:
🏃 Mini obstacle courses, adventure games and playful team challenges
🌿 Outdoor exploration, active play and adventure games
🪁 Hands-on building and design challenges
🏏 High-energy sports and movement games adapted for younger children
🧩 Simple problem-solving challenges that encourage teamwork and confidence
Every day balances activity, creativity and discovery, helping younger children build confidence, try new things and enjoy shared adventures with friends.

🤺HHQ 8+ (Ages 8–12)
As children grow older, many holiday clubs can start to feel too young.

Our 8+ programme is designed specifically for children ready for greater independence, challenge and high-energy experiences.
Across the holidays, older children take part in high-energy experiences such as:
⚽ Arena-style sports tournaments and large-team competitive games
🏃♀️ Strategic team missions and fast-paced challenge games
🪓 Skill-based target challenges and coordination activities
🦾 Build-and-test engineering or problem-solving challenges
🏗️ Team construction, survival-style and tactical group missions
