Unlike many schools, where boarders return to separate accommodation at the end of the day, at Thornton, our girls simply head upstairs to bed within the main building. This means that, right up until bedtime, the full range of school facilities remains part of everyday life. From the dance studio and sports hall to the tennis courts, music practice rooms, and library. It creates a seamless blend of academic, co-curricular, and social life that feels both natural and enriching.

We are also conveniently situated for major airports, including Heathrow, Luton, Birmingham and East Midlands, with airport transfers arranged by our trusted, family-run taxi service, ensuring travel is smooth and reassuring for both students and their families.
Life in the boarding house is lively, varied and full of moments to look forward to. During the week, girls enjoy much-loved traditions such as Trivia Tuesdays, Film Fridays and Sundae Sundays; small rituals that quickly become highlights. Weekends bring even more adventure, with trips ranging from local outings to the cinema or shops, to memorable days exploring London, Oxford, and Alton Towers!
