At Thornton College, music is for everyone! We have a strong choral tradition with three choirs – Years 7 & 8, Year 9 and the Chamber Choir for Years 10 & 11.

The Chamber Choir sung its way to first place and a distinction at the Milton Keynes Music Festival in March 2015. The Choirs perform on a regular basis in school concerts and celebrations.

Our School Orchestra continues to grow, performing in a variety of genres. Senior school musicians won the first place cup at the Milton Keynes Music Festival this spring with its rendition of My Love's an Arbutus and the main theme tune from Star Wars.

Our Flute Group (High Altitude) and Wind Band give important ensemble opportunities for wind players. We have a dedicated team of peripatetic staff with girls achieving positively in instrumental and singing examinations through ABRSM and Trinity/Guildhall.

Music is on the curriculum for all girls in Years 7, 8 and 9 and is offered as an option at GCSE. The English and Music departments work closely together to produce a stage production in alternate years and both solo and group concerts give regular opportunities for the girls to perform.
