As part of their computer coding, Year 8 have been learning about the key term ‘Iteration’ with Mr Gupta.
Iteration means repeating a part or parts of a code. As an element of this, the girls were given a project to create musical birthday cards which incorporated a Microbit, a single-board microcontroller. The Microbit has light sensors which can detect the intensity of light, playing music once the card has opened.
A Microbit has two programmable buttons and each of the girls have given them functions such as playing small animations on the LED screen. Others have the functionality of playing a random tune or the LEDs will display a personalised message when pressing one of the buttons.
The girls did a great job with their birthday cards and this exercise is a good example of integrating art and technology to work together.
