Year 8 girls have been busy creating pedometers using Microbit in their ICT lessons with Mr Gupta.
In addition to programming their pedometers, the girls devised a variety of straps and bands to carry them during testing. Some of the straps were as simple as a rubber band, whilst others were more creative, with one in particular demonstrating an ingenious use of Lego.
The girls tested and recorded their pedometers in a variety of ways, including walking, jogging and climbing stairs. It was particularly interesting to note that the devices were more responsive when strapped to the ankle rather than to the wrist or arm.
This was an enjoyable exercise in more ways than one. Creative, practical and fun.
