Year 9 students work on a modelling project.
A standalone Design and Technology brief has had Seniors modelling bangles or containers from card. Miss Crawford asked the girls to research natural forms on the internet with a view to creating individual A3-sized mood boards.
From this bank of themed images, the students selected one particular form and prepared to recreate it using only card.
The task encouraged them to follow the necessary steps a designer would take to produce a product from inception right through to final design.
Drawing the item first and making it in card would enable them to achieve the right scale of design and see if the product served its purpose.
If they were to carry the project forward, they would then be perfectly placed to make the item from metal or acrylic and to bend and texture it according to their design brief.
