Year 1s look for signs of the changing seasons.

Students in the Pre Prep wing are making great headway with their new Science topics: the changing seasons and materials. Combining the two, Miss Firstbrook took the girls to the open green space outside their classroom to look for signs of summer and to find materials that occur naturally in the great outdoors.

Last week, the class discussed materials such as plastic, silk, steel and cashmere. Outdoors, this week, they turned their attention to wood and stone – the main materials out in the open.

While searching the grounds, they also looked for signs of summer, noticing how flowers bloomed and birds sang in June, July and August. In addition, they pointed out, they would be able to see their shadows when the sun was shining.
