Students celebrate the tradition of country dancing.
While casting a look back at bygone times in their Creative Curriculum lessons, Years 3 and 4 have become masters of one of the country’s finest and time-honoured traditions – good old country dancing.
The latest chapter of the Cool Britannia topic led them to the Expressive Arts Studio. Imagining it as a quintessential village green, Miss Harris took the girls through a number of elements of English country dance.
Always beginning with a curtsy or a bow, they were soon confident enough to put the steps to music and repeat the formations of the Green Willow dance with a great deal of exuberance as well as accuracy. Could there be a better way of unlocking another hidden treasure of England's cultural heritage?
