Textiles students build up their portfolio of GCSE work.
The Thornton Year 10 students who are midway through their GCSE in Textiles are amassing a fabulous portfolio of work, ready to exhibit next year.
Over what has been both an exciting and challenging year, they have been exploring and experimenting with different techniques and a variety of processes. The repertoire has included layering, heat transfer printing and embellishment.
The girls have now settled on their themes: nature, sea life and armoury. This week, they have taken their original work a step further by adding intricate design and detail to fabric panels via machine embroidery.
As they develop and refine their ideas, they are clearly becoming more confident in taking risks – a pleasure for Mrs White to observe.
