Reception students enjoy a hunt for colours in the school grounds.
Bringing nature into the classroom and exploring the natural environment at our back door offers a hands-on approach to learning in Reception class. Mrs Thomas takes her students on regular forays in the grounds to help them identify the local fauna and flora and wildlife.
This week, she introduced colour bingo, prompting the girls to look for objects with different colours. While exploring Thornton’s woodlands and walled garden, they discovered yellow flowers for example, as well as white daisies, green leaves and grey feathers – all to be ticked off on their colour chart.
