Thornton swimmers go to great lengths to raise more than £1,100 for local charities.
Thornton fielded five strong teams for this year’s Rotary Club of Milton Keynes’ charity swimathon, held at Stantonbury Leisure Centre.
Our students, swimming in relays, clocked up as many lengths as they possibly could in the space of one hour. All the sponsorship money they raise – already totalling £1,109.35 – will go to eight local charities: The Redway School, Milton Keynes Hospital, Arts Gatway/Pandora, Willen Hospice, Different Strokes, Night Shelter, MK Cardiac Group and Dogs for Good.
Each team of girls, two from Years 5 and 6, plus another four teams from the Senior School, averaged an amazing 130 lengths each. Together, they managed a grand total of 652 lengths between them – all for some great causes!
