Year 7 students experiment with Ben-Day dots.
Art for the Year 7s over the past three weeks has revolved around classic pop art. Mr Taplin introduced students to the concept by showing them work created by American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. The girls replicated some of his drawings and scaled up the images before learning how to use punchinella to create a Ben-Day dots effect on the page.
Mainly using primary, bright colours to make their images ‘pop’, they had to think about proportion and composition as they worked. This week, they put the finished touches to their artwork by outlining their images in pen to give them greater clarity.
