Year 3 & 4 are studying the Egyptians this term and enjoyed a full day workshop with a historian from the company Portals to the Past. Following the work already completed with their teachers on the subject, the workshop brought alive the fascinating, enigmatic world of the ancient Egyptians through the eyes of an Egyptologist. The girls were taken on a journey through the mysteries of mummification and the “Book of the Dead.”
Dressed as everything from explorers, queens and mummies, the girls learnt how to mummify both people and pets, 'hunted' with arrows (made of foam!) at the riverbank, celebrated the announcement of a new Pharaoh and enjoyed an Egyptian lunch!
In just one day they covered every important element of the topic and will now explore more deeply back in the classroom - in their school uniform!
