Senior students to become published poets.
We’re excited to learn that all 20 Senior students who entered the ‘Busta Rhyme’ competition in October have been selected to have their poems published. The new poetry competition for 11-18-year-olds is the brainchild of the Young Writers organisation and is geared towards giving students the opportunity to write a lyrical poem about something for which they feel passionate.
The competition received more than 12,000 entries, so it is testament to the quality of our students' work that all of them, ranging from Year 7 to Year 11, were successful. We now have the possibility of one of our students winning £1,000 for the best poem, and for Thornton to receive the Award for Excellence if we are considered to be the school with the best set of entries.
