Students reflect on the cost of war in Remembrance Day service.
In a poignant and solemn service this morning, Mrs Lewis invited Senior students and staff to consider the human cost of war and remember all the men and women who have given their lives in all wars from 1914 up to the present day.
‘Today,’ she said, ‘we openly express our gratitude to people who given their lives as we think about the heroes of D-Day and on the Flanders fields of World War One.’
One way to show our respect is to wear a poppy. A group of Senior students eloquently reminded us that the money raised from these poppies goes to help veterans and bereaved families. Year 7s also gave a heartfelt rendition of Coldplay’s Fix You while Abi B from Year 9 brought the heartfelt assembly to a close with a solo performance of The Last Post, played to mark the end of a soldier’s life.
