Reception girls go on the hunt for fallen leaves in the school grounds.
The children in Reception have been getting to know their new teacher, Mrs Thomas, who will be with them while Mrs Stratford is on maternity leave.
Mrs Thomas has a First Class degree in Education & Human Development and Early Years Development Studies. This week, she showed the girls her gentle and engaging approach to learning while on a nature walk in Thornton’s sun-lit grounds.
Looking for the signs and colours of autumn, the girls steered a path towards the woodland where they enjoyed searching for leaves in many different sizes and shades. The idea is for them to decorate their findings with pictures and words describing their attributes. The leaves will then be hung in the entrance to the Pre-Prep wing for parents and visitors to see.
