Year 6 students showcase their art, musical and choral speaking skills in the first of this year’s ‘Family’ assemblies.
With 'New Beginnings' as the underlying theme, our Year 6s put on a sterling assembly in front of their parents, teachers and the rest of the Prep School this morning.
With the first few weeks of the Michaelmas term under their belt, the girls talked eloquently about what it feels like to start something new and how it’s natural for each individual to have different emotions and opinions. Some students said they felt scared and apprehensive, while others were curious or nervous.
Through the medium of song and choral speaking they agreed, however, that the experience of a new beginning is ultimately positive. When one door closes, another one opens.
I wonder what our door into Year 6 will bring they asked before each announcing what they would like to achieve during this academic year. Some girls wanted to gain in confidence, others were set on becoming better at sport or handwriting, while a selection of our students had their eye on set goals – Grade 1 flute for example or the Maths prize.
