Year 9s investigate plant life at Amersham Field Studies Centre.
Year 9 students spent a day at Amersham Field Studies Centre with Science teachers Dr Parker and Mr Smith to supplement their in-school Biology lessons.
The girls used quadrats to investigate how plant life varied along a transect leading from a path and into the woods. Also, they investigated two ponds and compared them in terms of the abiotic factors such as light intensity and temperature and the invertebrate life present.
The data the students collected will be used in subsequent classes; this experience of some of the techniques that are employed in Ecology will go a long way to supporting the GCSE syllabus.
