Milton Keynes Food Bank representative visits Year 2 pupils.

How we can help families and children less privileged than ourselves feel happy was the message Geoff from Milton Keynes Food Bank gave to the Year 2 girls during an informal question and answer session on the role the charity plays in the community.

Food donations from local organisations and schools like Thornton are packaged up to give to those in crisis, he told the class, with one bag of dried and tinned food serving a child for three days. Even in Milton Keynes there are many people living on the edge of poverty – the Food Bank gives out 10,000 parcels every year, enough to fill the classroom almost to the roof.
