Year 5s practise their knife skills in their first cookery lesson this year.
After a week of tests, Year 5 girls had high hopes for their first cookery lesson this academic year. We’re pleased to say that not one of them were disappointed when Miss Marum announced they would be preparing a variety of dips and slicing and dicing vegetables as an accompaniment.
To begin, the girls (hesitantly at first) committed to a blind tasting of dried banana, dried apricot and cherry fruit flakes to get them accustomed to the idea of trying new flavours and textures.
Hands washed and pinnies on, they then learnt how to peel and chop peppers, carrots and celery safely before preparing honey and mustard and delicious tuna dips to take home and eat with the vegetables.
