Reception girls hone their design and dexterity skills.
Reception girls have had an industrial week of making and doing to further their design and dexterity skills. To tie in with their transport theme, they’ve been making hot air balloons and designing plane wings.
All the girls cut out and designed their own hot air balloons and had their first introduction to weaving when it came to making the baskets – the finished masterpieces are already hanging up in the classroom for all to see.
In addition, they participated in a group discussion on planes, talking about engines, the pilot and even why the pilot and co-pilot can never eat the same meal while flying together.
The pupils identifying the different components of a plane such as the cockpit, passenger door and tail. With picture books for inspiration they thoroughly enjoyed the next task of drawing a plane tail with an emblem of their own centre stage.
