Jesus and Mary schools all over the world celebrate the life and legacy of Saint Claudine.
As a young girl in Lyon, France, Claudine Thévenet learnt how to forgive after witnessing the execution of two of her brothers. From that point onwards, she made a commitment to dedicate her life to educating the young. She founded The Religious of Jesus and Mary, which has seen a community of schools grow across the globe, including our very own Thornton College in 1917.
Every year, we honour her memory on 3rd February with the whole school coming together for a morning mass. Following the service, it is long-standing Thornton tradition for the Sisters to kindly distribute jammy doughnuts to each and every one of us.
