Year 7 students make edible colour wheels.

The Art Room has had a striking resemblance to a pop-up pâtisserie recently with Mrs White giving Year 7 students license to create their own edible colour wheels. The girls relished the opportunity to produce different-coloured icing to decorate 12 plain biscuits or cakes.

‘It’s an interactive way of getting pupils to mix colours to create other colours,’ says Thornton’s Head of Art. In the process, too, the girls gained an understanding of the foundation colours and learnt first-hand about the relationships between primary, secondary and tertiary colours.
