Thornton’s Co-curriculum Co-ordinator Mr Paris introduces a raft of new clubs to the school.
This week and last, Prep School and Senior girls have been trialling a brand-new portfolio of sporting and craft-based activities to extend their learning beyond the classroom.
Year 10s and Year 11s have received their first football training, courtesy of external football coach Mr Bonham. Within an hour, he had the girls dribbling, turning and accelerating with the ball with precision. The training programme is due to be rolled out to younger year groups after the Christmas holidays.
We have also introduced Martial Arts to pupils with our very own Mrs Holliday (a black belt in kickboxing and a qualified instructor) leading the classes this term. Other brand-new co-curricular lunchtime activities in their first outing include book binding, with the girls making and customising their own little journals. Felting has also been incredibly well-received, with attendees learning how to create pieces of felt from strands of wool.
