Music student Lauren H secures unconditional offer to study at internationally renowned Chetham’s School of Music.
Lauren, one of Thornton’s most accomplished musicians, has been offered an unconditional place at the largest specialist music school in the UK following a successful audition last week. She starts her sixth form studies at the Manchester-based school next September.
Lauren has nurtured a love of music since a young age and has a string of accomplishments to her name. She is a member of the National Youth Choir and is at Grade 7 with her singing. She also plays the cello to Grade 8 standard and is working towards Grade 7 on the organ. With piano, she is on track to take a Diploma (the next step up from Grade 8) in the spring.
Head of Music Mrs Sherry advises students to get Lauren’s autograph before she finishes her GCSEs! She forecasts a great musical future for our Year 11, whose ambition is to be an opera singer on the stage of the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden. Mrs Sherry says: 'Chetham’s is a world-renowned music school with approximately one third of students from overseas, so it is a great accolade for Lauren to receive an offer. I am truly thrilled for her; she practises incredibly hard and music is her life.’
