This week, the whole school body got behind Tyrell House for the first fundraising day of this school year. The theme – Colours for Others – encouraged pupils and teachers alike to ‘light up other peoples’ lives’.
By making a donation, pupils had Mrs Storey’s blessing to come to school dressed in loud and bold prints. The girls were tickled pink (if you’ll pardon the pun) to be given the opportunity to wear the likes of bright ra ra skirts and electric-coloured legwarmers, strangely reminiscent of 1980’s daywear (what were we thinking!). Pupils also had the chance to buy hot chocolate and cakes and try their luck at a tombola with fabulous prizes kindly donated by Thornton’s families.
Last week, the three school houses voted to support the local branch of Brain Tumour Research this year. Half of all monies raised from their fundraising efforts will go towards this charity. The other 50 per cent will go towards Jesus and Mary convents in Lebanon and Pakistan.
