This week, 23 of our Year 9s participated in the Luffield Arts Festival, held at Stowe.
Over three days, they collaborated with children from neighbouring schools to produce creative drama, dances, and original poetry, prose and music. Their work culminated in a show celebrating the creative and performing arts.
It featured visually arresting dance routines, plus students reading extracts from their creative writing work based around the theme ’15 minutes of fame’. An original drama piece took the traditional fairy tale of The Emperor’s New Clothes and adapted, amended and added to it to make it current. Meanwhile, our Thornton musicians joined their peers in bands and choirs for some tightly played and improvised tunes. Special mention must go to Molly S who co-wrote and performed a brand-new song about the meaning of fame.
