Home from Home

At Thornton College, we are a small, vibrant, diverse and close knit boarding community of approximately sixty girls aged 7 – 18 years. This means that girls can board with us at prep school age right through to Sixth Form if they wish, without having to make a transition between two schools.

The Manor House and grounds at Thornton are a second home.  All our boarding is on-site and girls are encouraged to treat Thornton as a home from home.  It’s the opportunity to have not one but two families; to be able to play tennis until lights out and to enjoy a pool party (on a school night!); to have staff on hand to give both pastoral and academic support, encouragement and advice; to live with peers from other countries and cultures whose different points of view about the world develop tolerance and a deeper understanding of society which, together, make a boarding experience so special.

The happiness and well-being of our students is at the heart of what we offer at Thornton and our friendly, family atmosphere ensures all our students feel comfortable, contented and supported.
