All boarding schools have regular inspections and Thornton College is no exception.
In addition to the full school inspection carried out by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in 2010, Thornton undergoes a section 138 inspection which identified pastoral care as ‘excellent’.
In the summary of findings from our most the recent inspection which focussed entirely on boarding provision, the inspectors wrote:
"The overall judgement on boarding welfare following this inspection was that boarding pupils were very well cared for in a safe and well-managed boarding environment by a dedicated and caring team of teaching and boarding staff. This overall judgement was supported by the very positive comments made by boarders about their experience of boarding in their questionnaires and by the high level of satisfaction expressed by parents of boarders in their response to the ISI pre-inspection questionnaire."
