Through careful financial management we have been able to maintain our fees at a competitive level which enables us to provide an education which is accessible to the wider community. This does not allow for the establishment of a sustainable bursary fund however and we do not have an endowment.
Until now the Religious of Jesus and Mary have been very generous in their support of pupils whose parents needed temporary financial assistance and talented pupils who could benefit from a Thornton education. However, this support is no longer possible and the time has come for the School to establish a Bursary Fund. We want to continue to support talented pupils from diverse backgrounds and our Bursary Fund will provide the means for both Scholarships and Bursaries.
Scholarships will be awarded to pupils who show particular academic, sporting, artistic, or all-round talent. Bursaries are awarded in cases of financial need. They are typically awarded over and above Scholarships, to those where the cost of fees would prohibit them from attending the School.
